Lead With a Structured Molecular Definition

Start with a project code, sequence, termini, modifications, counterion expectation and target scale. Attach a structure file or annotated sequence when notation alone could be ambiguous.

Avoid relying on an informal product nickname or previous email chain. A self-contained inquiry reduces transcription errors and gives every bidder the same technical baseline.

  • Sequence direction and residue notation
  • Terminal groups and modification sites
  • Cyclization, disulfide or isotope-label details
  • Target amount and its measurement basis

State the Specification and Evidence

List required identity, purity, assay or content attributes separately. For each, state the acceptance criterion, preferred method and records required at release.

If a method is not fixed, ask the manufacturer to propose one and disclose its limitations. This makes quotations more comparable than asking only for a purity percentage.

Compact inquiry data block

FieldExample styleWhy it matters
IdentityExpected mass plus LC-MS evidenceDefines release evidence
PurityHPLC area %, method proposedPrevents undefined percentage claims
QuantityReleased amount on stated basisClarifies deliverable
DocumentsCOA, chromatogram, spectrumSets disclosure scope

Define Commercial and Logistics Boundaries

Specify packaging splits, destination country, requested delivery window, quotation currency and shipping term. Ask the supplier to separate one-time development or analytical charges from repeat-batch pricing.

State whether substitutions, partial delivery, subcontracted testing or specification changes require approval. These terms prevent a technically different offer from appearing cheaper.

Request an Assumption-Led Response

Ask the manufacturer to confirm feasibility, restate the molecular definition, list exclusions and identify open technical risks. A useful response explains schedule drivers instead of providing only price and lead time.

Send the same controlled inquiry to shortlisted candidates and compare responses field by field. China Peptides Bio is an optional contact for manufacturing discussion, not a substitute for evaluating assumptions, evidence and scope.

  • Require a quotation revision number and validity period.
  • Ask who owns project management and technical questions.
  • Record every accepted deviation from the original inquiry.

Limitations / What this does not prove

  • A clear inquiry does not prove that a supplier can execute the work.
  • A feasibility statement does not guarantee released yield or schedule.
  • Comparable quotations may still rely on different unspoken process assumptions.
  • A B2B inquiry is not guidance for clinical, therapeutic or personal use.

FAQ

Should an inquiry disclose the full research purpose?

Disclose enough lawful context to define technical and compliance requirements, while limiting confidential scientific information to what is necessary.

Can a supplier choose all analytical methods?

Yes if the agreement allows it, but the buyer should review method suitability, reporting basis and limitations before accepting the specification.

Why ask for exclusions in a quotation?

Exclusions reveal what the price does not cover, such as specialized testing, reference standards, packaging or repeat work after a failed attempt.
